AI disclosure
Version 0.1, effective 22 Oct 2026.
AI features in the Anaphase products are optional and off until you turn them on. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you confirm a request, and the product shows what will be sent.
Two ways to use AI
| Your own key | Hosted by Anaphase | |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays the provider | You, on your provider account | Anaphase, within the plan allowance |
| Route | Your browser to the provider you chose, directly or through the product's server relay, which does not store the request or the key | Your browser, then Anaphase's server, then Anthropic |
| Whose terms apply to the provider | Yours with the provider | Anaphase's, with Anthropic acting as Anaphase's processor |
| Status today | Available in all four products | Not yet funded. SideScatter keeps a limited mode on free models through OpenRouter. |
The products describe the hosted state in plain words:
- Not yet funded: "The hosted assistant is not yet funded. Use your own key."
- Limited: "Limited hosted mode. Free models only, with low daily limits." (SideScatter only, while its existing free-model route is kept.)
- Available: "Hosted assistant available. Requests count against your plan's AI allowance." (Not live in any product.)
What is sent
| Product | Context sent with a request |
|---|---|
| BioPlot | Table names, column titles, a bounded sample of values from the selected table, analysis and graph settings. Not other tables, file names on disk or project history. |
| SideScatter | Channel and marker names, gate names and descriptions, counts and statistics shown on screen. Never event data. |
| BioSmith | The selected sequence region or feature list, construct name and your question. Not other constructs, storage credentials or account details. |
| BioGlyph | Object IDs, types, names, labels, positions and lock state for the scope you choose. Not hidden objects, image pixels or full artwork. |
Do not send patient-identifiable, confidential or export-controlled material unless your organisation has approved it.
What Anaphase keeps
For hosted requests Anaphase keeps a usage record: time, model, token counts and outcome. It does not keep the prompt, the context or the answer. Usage records are kept for 90 days (see the retention table). Anaphase does not use your content to train models.
What the provider keeps depends on the provider's own terms. With your own key, your agreement with the provider applies. Before the hosted assistant is switched on, this page will quote the provider's published data-use terms and the date they were checked.
Limits
AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. It is a draft for you to check. It is not a statistical, scientific or clinical review, and the products do not mark AI output as verified. Hosted requests are limited per network address (30 per hour and 100 per day) and, once accounts exist, per user.
Connectors (MCP)
The products can also be used from an AI assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, through their MCP connectors. In that case the assistant's provider receives whatever the connector returns to it, under your agreement with that provider. See Connect your AI.
